The branch aims to offer antenatal and postnatal support, here are a few of the ways we can help new parents.

Antenatal Courses
Led by qualified NCT antenatal teachers, our antenatal classes are renowned throughout the UK for providing parents with reliable information and choice.

Classes are small and informal. Everyone in the class will be expecting their babies around the same time. This creates a wonderful environment of shared experiences where many people make lifelong friends.

Each NCT Antenatal Course provides evidenced-based information, backed by more than 50 years of NCT experience. They give you the opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions about your labour and your baby’s birth.

Topics covered include:

• What is happening to your body during pregnancy
• Preparing for labour and birth
• Giving parents-to-be the opportunity to explore this life-change in context to their past and their future
• Assessing information in light of your personal needs and cultural context.
  

Postnatal Courses
Run by a trained NCT teacher, this course is aimed at new mothers with babies up to 7 months in age.  The first courses will be starting in August/September 2008.

You can call our Pregnancy and Birth Line if you have questions about issues relating to your pregnancy or birth, or if you want to chat about your experiences with a fully qualified antenatal teacher.

Breastfeeding Line - 0870 444 8708

8am–10pm, seven days a week

Call our Breastfeeding Line to talk to a qualified breastfeeding counsellor for information and support to help you breastfeed successfully.

Enquiries Line - 0300 33 00 770 

9am–5pm, Monday–Thursday; 9am–4pm on Friday

You can call our Enquiries Line to find out more about our local and national services for parents, and to find out more about accessing your local NCT branch.

You can also submit a question to our small panel of volunteers who may be able to help you with your pregnancy, birth and babycare questions.

Support by finding other parents
The branch has several Bumps & Babes and Open House session which are held in informal surroundings on a regular basis.  
Once a month, on the last Friday of the month, there is a Stratford based Bumps and Babes session (for parents with children up to 8 months) in conjunction with a Nappuccino (finding out about real nappies).  The session is free (and you don't have to find out about nappies if you don't want to!) and tea & coffee and biscuits is provided.
